Alex Orona and Super GG Radio’s Best Betas from the second half of 2022
What’s good, internet, I’m Alex Orona, co-host of the NPR of Illinois Podcast Super GG Radio. Our focus on the show is beta tests, early access, and pre-release demos of indie games and I’m here to share our top games we have encountered this year that you should keep an eye out for in the future.
Out of Hands
This is a deck-building card battler where you attempt to fight against a slow creeping madness to uncover the mystery of your past. It’s a psychological horror game that mixes in FMV footage in such an unnerving way to produce what isn’t necessarily body horror but might as well be. This one will stick around with you long after you’ve played it.

The Multi-Medium
The Multi-Medium is a whimsical action platformer that focuses more on artistic mediums to convey the story. You play as a scientist performing the first multi-dimensional jump trials but each new universe you visit is crafted from a different medium. Charcoal, Colored Pencil, Paper Mache, it’s all here in wacky worlds for you to explore.

Thirsty Suitors
Returning home is never easy and in Thirsty Suitors it’s even harder. You play as Jala, returning home only to find she has to JRPG turn-based combat her way through her exes to heal the wounds of her past. It's quirky, ridiculous, and super stylish. Full of tons of minigames and a killer soundtrack, it’s definitely worth checking out.
For Fans of: Scott Pilgrim, Sayonara Wild Hearts, and Child of Light
Release: Coming Soon

The Many Pieces of Mr. Coo
The Many Pieces of Mr. Coo is a fascinating point-and-click adventure game that is reminiscent of those old acid TV cartoons of the early MTV era when things were getting weird. The animation is fluid and trippy while the puzzles never felt insurmountable. Were they a bit nonsensical? Sure, but that’s the charm of the game itself. It’s a psychedelic romp that will always keep you guessing what's next around the corner.
For Fans of: Dragon’s Lair, The Maxx, and Return to Monkey Island
Release: 2023

Wavetale
Wavetale is a real special character action game. You play as a girl trying to save her village but it expands to so much more as the protagonist has the power to control the ocean. Using her powers to traverse and fight your way through larger-than-life monsters, you get a real sense of the scope of the world and the future possibilities of her powers. This one has a lot of potential.

SANABI
Oh, boy SANABI. I can’t be more hyped about this one. With modern game trends, it’s pretty common to see grappling hooks everywhere, but in SANABI, you use it to be a killing machine! The game itself is a story about a mercenary whose peaceful retirement was violently cut short. Now he’s on a badass revenge mission that’s a fast-paced romp of 2D pixel art platformer whose art is as beautiful as it is visceral. You use that grappling hook and other abilities to traverse the levels and defeat all that get in your way, in a big bloody mess. It’s awesome.
For fans of: Celeste, and Hollow Knight
Release: In Early Access Now
